About Comics Authority

Built From A Lifetime Of Creativity

Comics Authority is the publishing home for original indie comics created through imagination, experience, and technology.

My Story

Comics Authority was started by me, Christopher English, but the dream behind it goes all the way back to the second grade. That was when I first started drawing comics, creating my own characters, and building little worlds on paper. I was the kind of kid who did not just read comics; I studied them. I wanted to understand how stories moved from panel to panel, how heroes were designed, and how a few drawings could make an entire universe feel alive.

As I got older, that same creative obsession moved into technology. In high school, I used what I knew from drawing and taught myself how to create video games. I sold those games as shareware, using the tools I had available and the imagination I had built from years of reading, drawing, and experimenting. I bought every comic book, video game, and computing magazine I could find on the newsstand because all of it felt connected to me. Comics, games, computers, design, and storytelling were all different parts of the same language.

Before there was a company, there was just hustle. I used to Xerox my own comics and sell them around my neighborhood. I was making stories, copying them, and getting them into people’s hands the only way I knew how. That early independent spirit is a major part of what Comics Authority is built on today.

Eventually, I became a graphic designer and web developer in my day job. I spent years using design, layout, code, and technology to solve problems and communicate ideas. I was always telling stories in one form or another, whether through visuals, websites, film, or concepts I carried around in my head. But life happened. Responsibilities, work, and time pulled me in different directions, and I had not drawn seriously in over 25 years. Over time, I lost a lot of the original drawing ability I once had.

Every story published through Comics Authority begins with human imagination. Technology is a tool. The ideas, characters, and worlds come from people.

My creative interests never stopped with comics. Over the years, I found myself at the intersection of storytelling and technology again and again. Long before digital music stores became commonplace, I created Musica360, a Latin music download service during the early days of online music distribution. I also founded Hoodgrown Magazine, a hip-hop publication that eventually evolved into one of the first magazines available on the iPad when digital publishing was still in its infancy. One of my songs was licensed for a Versace Kids clothing commercial in Europe, and another was placed on the television series S.W.A.T. Whether it was comics, music, magazines, websites, video games, films, or software, I was always searching for new ways to create, communicate, and tell stories. Creativity and technology have never been separate paths in my life—they have always been part of the same journey. Technology gave me a way back. By combining my background in comics, design, web development, software development, music production, publishing, and filmmaking, I am now able to bring the stories in my head to life again. Comics Authority is not about replacing imagination. It is about using every tool available to finally tell the stories I have been carrying for decades. The technology has changed, but the goal remains exactly the same as it was when I was a kid drawing comics and photocopying them for my neighbors: create stories that entertain, inspire, and leave people wanting to turn the next page.

What Comics Authority Is Here To Do

My goal with Comics Authority is to build a new kind of independent publishing home. I want to create original heroes, bold worlds, and cinematic stories that feel exciting, accessible, and different from what readers usually see. This company is starting with one release, but the vision is much bigger: a growing catalog of comics, digital downloads, print editions, and story worlds that can expand into animation, film, games, and more.

I also want Comics Authority to prove that independent creators can build real publishing brands with modern tools, direct audience support, and original ideas. The mission is simple: create stories with heart, energy, and imagination, then get them directly to the readers who are looking for something fresh.
